Tip's

1. Research, I'm not saying you need to go to the National archive's, but you should have some foundation of facts to help you avoid getting burned. We sell books and other accessories to help you with your collections. If you have specific information needs e-mail us at info@laserco2.com we can help. Our experience can really help you. And as in most things in life some wise counsel can "save our *#!"

2. Grading, Learning to grade it is not as hard as people think. There are specific guide lines set up as a standard. The ANA host a seminar on grading at coin shows, there are many books and videos on the subject. If you really struggle with it you can buy coins professionally graded such as PCGS, ANA or PCI.

3. Beware of touched up coins... Cleaning, polishing, plating and artificial toning are all tricks set to snare the naïve. Only experience can really show you what to look for. But once you've seen enough of the natural and true toning you'll be bettered prepared to spot the doctored up stuff.

4. Supplies, I've seen entire collections destroyed because of mishandling and improper storage techniques. So get quality supplies for your collection and avoid touching them as the oils from your skin does interact. We sell only the finest quality supplies and you can order them on-line so rest easy.

5. Auction Fever, "Watch Out" keep your EGO in check. Or you might bid in the heat of the moment. I've seen people bid on things they didn't want and I have seen a cull semi-common type coin bring as much as a MS63 proof because two people wouldn't let go... I've bought some real bargains at auctions so keep your eyes open.

6. Price Guides, "Bid, Ask, Wholesale, retail, spot, futures, Gray Sheets, Blue Sheets, Red books, Monthly summaries. With such colorful options it's no wonder most people get confused. If you can afford it, I recommend the Gray sheets but they are very expensive and have more information than most collectors or investors need. A good inexpensive way to keep appraised of the market is with the Numismatic News Newspaper, they have over the years supplied quality information to their readers.

7. Have Fun, if you are not enjoying it stop and "regroup"

8. Shows, Go to as many as you can, this is the arena that drives the market. Be careful, remember the group of money changers that Jesus tossed off the temples steps. Most of their kin reside here. Buyer Beware.

9. Security, Be smart. Be Cautious. We have all heard the sad tales of some one losing their collection. My advice when you have to travel with your collection always keep some part of your body touching it. The most common police report filed reads I set it down for a moment and when I looked back it was gone. Check with your Insurance Co. Coin Collections and other type of collections can be insured but read the policy carefully, travel may not be included.

10. Think LONGGGGGGG term, be patient, it has been my experience that no matter what your heart desires it can be had. We can help. E-mail your "Want List" to us and we will began diligently searching.

Well those are my top ten tip's, I trust you found some value in them. It doesn't matter what we collect. It can be Coins, Cars, Airplane, Stamps, Paper Money, Toys, Cards, Art, Scrap Metal or anything. We all love to get to shows and meet the people out there trading and enjoying their hobby, so if you see me or one of mine say Hi, and tell us what you are looking for, we love to help people fine cool things.
